Editorial Family Portraits — A Modern Vanity Fair Style Session

There’s something iconic about a family portrait that feels more like a moment in a film than a traditional photograph. For this session, I wanted to create an image that captured not just faces, but presence — the confidence, connection, and individuality within this family’s dynamic.
There’s something iconic about a family portrait that feels more like a moment in a film than a traditional photograph. For this session, I wanted to create an image that captured not just faces, but presence — the confidence, connection, and individuality within this family’s dynamic.

Set inside their stunning home library, this portrait draws inspiration from the timeless, dramatic editorial style of Vanity Fair. Rich shadows, precise lighting, layered textures, and an intentional composition all come together to create a scene that feels both elevated and intimate. Instead of posing them into a “perfect” traditional family portrait, I encouraged everyone to settle naturally into the space, bringing their own energy and expression to the frame.

The result is an image that feels cinematic — polished, stylish, and unapologetically modern. I love how each person contributes a different mood, while the overall composition still feels cohesive and artfully balanced. The family dog sitting proudly at the center adds a grounding warmth that makes the image both chic and personal.

Editorial family portraits are an opportunity to create something beyond the expected — a piece of artwork that reflects who your family is in this moment in time, and one that deserves to live large on a wall or in a beautifully designed album.

If you’re drawn to a more refined, cinematic approach to your family imagery, I’d love to create something truly unique for you. Reach out anytime to begin planning your own editorial-style session.
